How to get your website indexed faster with Google

Keyboard, mouse, notepad and tablet on yellow desk.

If you’ve recently added new content to your website and want it instantly reflected on Google, just follow these easy steps.

When you update your website, it can take minutes or even months for Google to update that information on the search engines.

We all want our online content to rank highly on Google as soon as possible, but before that can happen, Google has to index your site. Unfortunately, this can take a while on its own. That means your content might not be attracting customers or getting read by anyone, for months.

Don’t wait for Google to index your site.

You can easily update the revised web page (or website) by using Google Search Console Fetch.

Here’s how:

  1. In Google Search Console, search Ask Google to recrawl your URLs (or just type it into Google)
  2. Select ‘Use the URL Inspection tool’ (if you’ve just updated a few pages) or ‘Submit a sitemap’ for entire website updates
  3. Enter the URL in the URL Inspection Tool
  4. Select ‘Request Indexing’

While it does note this won’t guarantee indexing will happen faster, or at all, this is the method I use and it always updates within a few hours.

Now, give it a try and see how you go.
